RobinElla
RobinElla makes
beguiling music that has no name. The acclaimed
singer-songwriter has had folks struggling with
descriptions as long as she has been making music.
She has slipped in and out of genres ranging from
bluegrass to jazz, always dodging labels.
E Muzeki
Mark Varelas and Jenny O'Connor, both native
Texans, first played music together in fall of
1999 as founders of the Greek band, E Serenes (The
Sirens). A shared passion for exotic sounding
music carried them beyond Greek music both in
genre and instrumentation to their world music
project,
E Muzeki. Drawing
from Gypsy, Greek, Spanish, and Celtic traditions
while not being bound by them, the group has
developed a unique and captivating style. Whether
playing actual folk repertoire, or one of their
original compositions, E Muzeki brings fresh
emotion to ancient musical tradition, drawing
listeners of all ages and from every walk of life.
Gram Rabbit
Gram Rabbit
Drinkme
Drinkme formed
when guitarist / singer Julian (Whitey, Siobhan
Fahey) and bassist / vocalist Ru (Echobelly) began
writing tracks together, melding their individual
tastes into a tapestry of polished melodies and
biting lyrics. The band’s current set sweeps
together a wide range of disco-punk influences
such as Gang of Four and PiL, Britpop melodies and
lyrics reminiscent of the Clash and Blur, while
loops reminiscent of 80’s electronica add a
Numanesque edge to their sound.
Dresden Dolls
The
Dresden Dolls are
Amanda Palmer on piano and Brian Viglione on
drums. The music they make has roots in pre-WWII
Dresden cabarets, but updated with a punk vibe and
hip hop explicitivity.
The Ditty Bops
Amanda and Abby
weave music and lyrics together to achieve that
rarest of effects, taking their listeners to
another place, a place that seems more
consequential and interesting than where they
started.
Regina Spektor
Regina Spektor
plays her piano and belts out music that defies
genre. Classical punk rock, with some jazz and
blues mixed in might get you close to an adequate
description of her art. Listen once and you'll
understand and want more.
Turin Brakes
Turin Brakes is a
modern folk pop duo that hails from Britain. Olly
Knights and Gale Paridjanian were friends in
elementary school and decided to try out for the
cathedral choir because it would perform in front
of the Queen of England, which it eventually did.
The two childhood friends formed a band together
and would record their freewheeling jam sessions.
Raul Midón
While you can hear traces of Donny Hathaway,
Stevie Wonder, Jose Feliciano and, Richie Havens
in his music,
Midón is an
extraordinary original whose passion is expressed
in his indelible songs. "I like to celebrate the
possible, the highest, the best of possibilities
for human beings," says Midón, who has been blind
since birth and is the son of an African American
mother and an Argentinean father. "It's easy to be
pessimistic given the state of the world. But I'm
inspired by people like Martin Luther King, Jr.
and Gandhi who had the ability to transform.
Collectively we create an enormously powerful
force that can change the world and overcome any
obstacle."

Mary Gauthier
There is a story here,
strange and scary, as compelling as the music.
Gauthier's path has wound through devastation and
despair. She has beaten back demons, lived off the
streets, sunk to the bottom of life, turned 18
behind bars, emerged from darkness, and to
completely confuse things won notice as a
respected restaurateur — all before writing her
first song.
Stewart Francke
Stewart Francke,
Detroit singer, songwriter, has long been a
timekeeper of the city’s soul and R&B heritage and
has made a selection of self-released suave but
under appreciated albums.
Down The Line
Down The Line
features bluegrass instruments, original pop
songs, rock 'n' roll attitude, and the folk-and
soul-style harmonies of three unforgettable
vocalists.
Industrial Salt
Industrial Salt
consists of Hayley Bonnick on guitar and backing
vocals. Alex Stamp on vocals and electric piano.
Two girls with plenty of attitude, and a passion
for music who met during 2004 and hit it off
immediately. The band name was a direct lift from
a Chemistry textbook that Hayley was referring to
while doing her homework one night. “ I just
thought it was a great name for a band.” She
joked. I never thought it would stick!”
The Duhks
The five practiced, risk-taking twenty-something
musicians and singers who make up this singular
new band out of Winnipeg, Manitoba will, if asked,
good-naturedly toss out some of the attempts at
labels astonished listeners have turned to…In the
two years that they've been a unit, many have
tried to describe
The Duhks'
music-- "contemporary acoustic," "progressive
soul-grass," and “kick-ass rock/folk fusion” being
just a few of the attempts to classify the group.
Dayna Kurtz
Dayna Kurtz
defies genre. She is a bit blues, jazz, R&B, folk,
rock and pop. That's one reason why we like her.
The other is her voice, low and full of soul and a
startling honesty. Her album "Beautiful Yesterday"
is a tremendous, eclectic mix of songs that will
make you an instant fan.
Okkervil River
Listening to
Okkervil River is
a lot like taking a favorite rock band, adding in
a favorite alt country band, mixing in some
bluegrass instrumentation and then topping it off
with the lyricality of a cherished singer
songwriter. And it all works very well, very well
indeed.
Bright Eyes
The band,
Bright Eyes is
the creation of Conor Oberst, singer-songwriter
from Nebraska. Oberst's lyrics will haunt you and
the passion of his delivery will win you over.
Victor Wooten
Victor Wooten
redefines the word musician. Regaled as the most
influential bassist since Jaco Pastorius, Victor
is known for his solo recordings and tours, and as
a member of the Grammy-winning supergroup, Béla
Fleck & The Flecktones. He is an innovator on the
bass guitar, as well as a talented composer,
arranger, producer, vocalist and
